A Secret Haven in Batangas

We did not make a mistake. Choosing Ataalaya Farmhouse as one of our Top 5 Airbnb Accommodations in Luzon is one of the best choices we’ve ever made. From its grandiose house to its majestic views, you can’t help but to sit back, relax and just enjoy every moment and every second spent in this secret haven.

It’s the honeymoon destination of our dreams!

The views of this place are unbelievable, especially at sunset when the skies change their hues to pink and violet. Combine it with the exclusivity, the service, and the romantic ambiance of the place and you will have the ultimate staycation with your loved ones. The jacuzzi overlooking the Taal Lake and Mt. Maculot will be the cherry on top of your whole stay. More on that later. 🙂

Ataalaya Farmhouse

Ataalaya Farmhouse is a 5-hectare family-owned property located atop of a cliff just an hour and a half drive south of Manila. It overlooks the Taal Lake on the left and the stunning Mt. Maculot on the right.

The word Ataalaya is a combination of the Spanish word ‘Atalaya’, which means lookout tower and ‘Taal’, the most astonishing feature of the place. The owners designed the farmhouse with the blending elements of Cape Dutch, Indian styles, and rustic Filipino in a modern setting. It has the colonial ambiance, but with the conveniences of a modern home.

The house has 3 rooms that can be rented out for guests, 2.5 shared toilet and baths, 2 living rooms, a lanai, a fully equipped kitchen, a pavilion for small events, and a farm where guests can visit and buy organic products. Guests have full access to these amenities.

The living room on the first floor has a flat screen television with cable. It also houses the toilet and bath for the queen bedroom.

This is the lanai on the first floor with the dining area and the kitchen.

Here’s Blackie, a very shy dog that ignored all my attempts at petting him. *sigh*

You are free to bring your own meals and cook it in the kitchen. For guests that would like a hassle-free trip, the caretaker can cook your meals for an additional fee.

Here’s the fully- equipped kitchen with the view of the Taal Lake. Can’t believe washing dishes could be this relaxing!

This is the living room on the second floor of the house. Its heartwarming rustic design makes you feel like you’re in the sosyal ancestral house of your lola!

After receiving our welcome drinks and cold towels when we arrived, Ate Neng (the caretaker) led us to our room.

We stayed in the Loft Room that can occupy a total of  4 guests. It has an AC, ceiling fan, soft pillows, and crisp linens. It has a queen bed on the lower level and two futon beds on the loft. The egg-shell foam on the queen bed was a delight to sleep into. I kept on touching it because it’s very relaxing and therapeutic.

What we really enjoyed in this place was the little treats they give to their guests like the welcome drinks, complimentary water, and the chocolate sweets in the room. It’s these things that make the stay special and very thoughtful.

In the morning, you will be waken up by the sound of birds chirping as you open up the capiz windows and bask in the golden hues of the sunrise in the garden.

This is the shared toilet and bath located on the second floor. It’s very airy, classy, and sophisticated with its own water heater, bidet, and rain shower. Toiletries are also provided for the guests. The towels are thick and the lotion smells really nice. The bath tub overlooks the views and I just couldn’t wait to soak in its warm water.

The Pavillion

The pavillion has the best views of the Taal Lake, making it ideal for small events like intimate weddings and gatherings with up to 80 guests. If you want to see a sample wedding video in the property, check out the video of one of the guests in Ataalaya’s Facebook page, click here!

Adjacent to the pavillion is the Jacuzzi, my favorite part of our stay!

The Jacuzzi

If this will not make you want to book Ataalaya Farmhouse right now, I don’t know what will! This is, by far, the most romantic setting I’ve ever been into! The sunset’s colors and the views will just make you feel grateful about life. This moment right here is best shared with loved ones with a cold drink and stories shared over and over again.

By nighttime, Ataalaya glows…

Activities

Activities recommended by the owners are as follows:

Taal Heritage Town tour (10-15 minutes away from the property),

Mountain hiking in Mt. Maculot (10-15 minutes away from the property),

Tour at the nearby farm,

Diving and snorkeling in Anilao, Batangas,

There’s a steep trail that leads to the Taal Lake at the back of the property. Caution when trekking is advised.

Bird watching

We toured the farm across the property and checked out the different farm animals of the owners. Tour of their larger farm can be requested as well. Hawks and other kinds of birds can also be seen on the property, flying by the garden area.

Breakfast

Complimentary buffet breakfast comes in with the overnight stay. Organic and healthy meals are served every morning for the guests. For our breakfast, we had beef tapa, garlic rice, cheesy omelette, sunny-side up (fresh eggs that came from the farm), cereals, fresh bread with jams and butter, local fruits, and Barako coffee. Super yummy and filling!

Other Things to Take Note

They are working on putting Wifi and the 3G signal is good on the property.

There’s a parking area on the property that can accommodate 4-5 cars. Parking across the property is also allowed. However, it is not paved.
