Sand and Stars Beach Resort in Dinidiawan

Supposed to be an hour away from Baler, we were doubtful at first whether this resort was for real. The road was long and winding and it will take you up and down the mountains continually.  I thought to myself, “Is there an end to this?”

I was feeling agitated and anxious because there were no signs of the Sand and Stars beach resort after an hour of driving.

Alas! after two hours trip (because of stopovers and slow driving), we arrived in the resort. Sand and Stars is located at the far end part of the rows of resorts in Dinidiawan Beach. You will not miss it because of the huge signage and the flock of tourists in the area. I think this beach resort is the most famous and the best one because of the keepers and the locals. Everyone here is just so kind and helpful. There’s also a wide parking area, campsites, and a lot of cottages where you can just chill and hang out with your friends.

The beach resort offers air-conditioned accommodations and glamping packages. We booked the AC cottage but I’m also considering booking the glamping tent next time since it’s very cute and clean.

Air-conditioned cottages for 4 to 6 pax- Php 2,500.00+
Glamping tent for 2-4 pax inclusive of breakfast and complimentary drinks-
Off peak season Php 1299-1499
Peak season Php 1500+
Day tour entrance fee– Php 50.00

The room is spacious enough for 6 persons. The sheets were clean and the pillows were soft. The toilet has a bidet and water heater, but there were no toiletries so bring your own.

The only downside was when my sister tried to plug-in the lamp, it sparked. I think the electricity wiring of our cottage #4 has a problem because the light outside was flickering too. I also think the problem is with our cottage only since I didn’t see the other cottages having that kind of problem.

Right outside our cottage was a lounge area where we grilled our barbecues and ate our dinner. This was also where my parents spent their time because they didn’t want to swim.

Each cottage has their own sitting area and grill so everyone has their own area where they can hang out/ eat their meals. There’s also a cooking area where you can cook your meals for an additional fee of Php170.

Other activities in Sand and Stars includes beach volleyball, spiderball (I don’t know how this one works), bonfire, surfing and beach bumming.

The beach area

This is where the mountains and sand meet. It’s very scenic and it’s like you’re in another world. The sand is fine and the waves are majestic. If you are not a good swimmer and a surfer, please do not attempt to dive in because the undercurrent is too strong. There is a rope tied to a tree trunk where you can hang on for your life, but do you really want to risk it?

Just look at us, lazing our day away in the sea shore.

It’s best to go star gazing at 4:00 in the morning. After that, you can wait for the beautiful sunrise while having your coffee.

Ah! The simple joys in life!
